Choosing to foot trim on a regular basis is only half the battle when cows being presented for treatment are already lame.According to Kent dairy producer, John Downing, although many farmers foot trim, those that are successfully tackling the problem are the ones that carry out routine, preventative trimming. "The fundamental difference is that farmers are doing everythingthey can to ensure cows are presented to the foot trimmer before they are actually lame," he says.
