But for others, a guaranteed income - be it from generating electricity or leasing land to a solar company - can provide much-needed confidence to take stock of the farm business and shape it into something profitable that can be handed on to the next generation.South Devon livestock producer Richard Buckpitt saw the technology as a lifeline for the family farm. The 6.3MW solar farm which spans 15ha of the 87ha Marley Thatch Farm between Plymouth and Exeter has made a huge difference to the make up of the farm both now and for the future.
