WITCHED RELUCTANCE MACHINES (SRMs) have gained momentum in the highly competitive market of adjustable speed motor drives. Owing to their rugged structure, simple geometry, and robust performance, SRM drives have made a successful entrance into various sectors of industry such as aerospace, automotive, and home appliances. In particular, the absence of magnetic sources on the rotor has turned SRM into a viable solution for applications in which operation under hostile ambient conditions is demanded.
