摘要

We are delighted to have articles from the halls of government, with Earl Howe giving us his thoughts on dentistry in the years to come and Sue Gregory discussing the impact of the new contract. Both authors suggest that our current model of providing dental healthcare is not actually current at all, or at least less appropriate now than thirty or forty years ago, especially in our present time of financial hardship. That said, Nigel Hunt questions how financially astute it really is to limit orthodontic treatment on the NHS and reminds us all that it is patients' holistic health and well-being that is at stake when these tough decisions are being made.
