Eco Marine Power Unveils ‘Aquarius’ Eco-Ship; Slashes Bunker Fuel 40%

Japan-based Eco Marine Power (EMP) on January 30 unveiled a concept ship design incorporating its “Aquarius” Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) system including both wind-sail power as well as solar power – with the potential to slash bunker-fuel consumption by 40%. “The Aquarius Eco Ship is the result of a comprehensive study project which focused on optimizing the design of a large ocean going ship such as a bulk carrier or oil tanker to harness the power of the wind and sun by using the Aquarius MRE System,” according to EMP.
