Separation of Natural Products: Centrifugal Countercurrent Chromatography as a Versatile Technique

Centrifugal countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a separation technique which does not require solid stationary phases and employs solvents alone. It has been successfully used for the purification of hundreds of natural products from all manner of sources, including plants, animals, marine organisms, fungi and microorganisms. The technique is very versatile and is able to operate with very polar and apolar samples on both an analytical and a preparative scale.
