The Association for Laboratory Automation (ALA) is a unique organisationthat focuses on the development of laboratory technologies. It supports scientists from around the world in research and development technologies to increase productivity and reduce cost and time. Founded eleven years ago, ALA now has more than 7,500 members and associate members worldwide, many of whom attend the annual 5-day conference which plays host to some 5,000 attendees. Prof. Dr. Reinhold Schafer is currently the president of ALA. Andreas Groesslein, MA, posed questions on labautomation, new technologies and trends.
