Russia has still not come to an agreement with Turkey on the South Stream pipeline proposed by Gazprom. “We don’t understand why we don’t have permission,” Russia’s deputy prime minister Igor Sechin told reporters. Russia has already signed intergovernmental agreements with the South Stream transit countries Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria; however the approval of the Ankara government of the pipeline’s sub-sea section through Turkish waters in the Black Sea is still pending.
