On October the 31~(st) a special additional event was held at the Anglo Platinum recreation club at Waterval. This was a talk by Ian Mason and Johannes Cloete on "The Use of Ground Penetrating Radar in detecting potholes". It attracted a sizable audience all interested in finding out about this latest technique. Although not in a production form as yet, the results are encouraging. Various images were shown on which structural features including boreholes were identified. We all look forward to the day when such equipment can be utilised on a routine basis underground to look ahead of the miners. Francois Vos and Anglo Platinum must be thanked for facilitating this talk and we are sure to hear more about GPR in the future.
