The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction is one of the most useful reactions for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds 1. It has a nearly singular capability of establishing large numbers of stereochemical centers in one synthetic step 2. In this line, an impressive effort has been devoted to the synthetic application of the cycloaddition of nitrones.
