A new ager for alpines

Mary, wife of alpine nurseryman Paul Ingwersen, says the Ingwersen men have always liked what they're doing -and they always do just what they like! They've been doing what they like most - raising alpines - for 70 years at Birch Farm in Sussex. Paul's father, Walter, was the first of the Ingwersen dynasty to grow alpines on this north-facing slope. Paul's half-brother, Will, helped build up stock and followed on as manager until Paul became 'man-in-charge' in 1986.
