DME's new DoveTail core

US company DME has launched the DoveTail Collapsible Core for injection moulds, which it says offers cycle time advantages over unscrewing mechanisms.The collapsible cores were developed for moulding plastic parts requiring internal threads, undercuts, protrusions or cutouts. DME says that for conventional threaded parts, using collapsible cores in the mould can cut cycle time by up to 30% compared with unscrewing or actuating mechanisms.The Dovetail is a three-unit assembly comprising a collapsible core, centre pin, and a positive collapse sleeve. It is available in four standard sizes.
