摘要

Q: Problems related to anchor bolts come up several times a year: They are mislocated, the threads are damaged, or the anchor gets broken off. The erector attempts to weld an extension onto the damaged rod, and being the inspector, I'm the bad guy who catches the erector in the act or shortly after the extension has been welded. What is the correct way to weld to an existing anchor bolt? A: There is no simple answer to your question. Anchor rods can be made from several different materials. The materials most often specified for anchor rods are ASTM F1554, A307, A449, A354, A193, A320, F593, and the old standby A36. The chemistry and mechanical properties vary considerably from one specification to the next, and several material specifications include more than one grade.
