Applications range from flat screens, mobile phone displays, pharmaceutical tablet blisters and food packaging to baby diapers. The type and number of permissible defects in extruded films mostly depends on their intended use. Reliable detection of defect sizes between 150μm and 500μm is required for packaging film (PET); from 50μm to 200μm in technical film; from 60μm to 160μm in surface protection film and from 25μm to 100μm in film with specific optical characteristics.
