Soil degradation: methodology and potentialities of mapping

摘要

An analysis of available definitions of the term "soil degradation" is suggested. An original definition of soil degradation based on proper soil characteristics is proposed. The difficulties that arise during the mapping of soil degradation phenomena are discussed. The potentialities and basic principles of such mapping are revealed.
