Acidophilic and alkaliphilic actinomycetes in acid, neutral, and alkaline soils

The presence of a complex of acidophilic actinomyeetes was identified in acid soils. Acidophilic actinomycetes were not found in slightly alkaline soils, alluvial meadow soil on calcareous deposits, and solonetzic chestnut soil. A correlation was found between the pH values optimal for the growth of actinomycetes and the pH values under which actinomycetes are isolated from the soil.
