FAO: UN AGENCY LOOKS AT AGRICULTURAL COMMODITY MARKETS IN 2004

The UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation on February 15 launched its SOCO 2004 report on the state of agricultural commodity markets last year. The report focuses on the impact that falling commodity prices have had on food security for the world'spoorest countries. According to the FAO, the long-term downward trend in agricultural commodity prices threatens the food security of hundreds of millions of people in some of the world's poorest developing countries where the sale of commodities is often the only source of cash.
