The ethanol industry has seemingly hit the E10 “blend wall” – the point at which no more ethanol can be blended into gasoline at a 10% by volume (vol%) concentration – but two companies – Gevo and Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC – are at the forefront of introducing biobutanol into the market as a means of circumventing this market challenge.
