At U. S. Steel Canada - Hamilton Works, the automatic location of car positions was measured with an adequate level of precision using radio-based measuring principles. The absence of moving or rotating parts on the distance sensors or routine cleaning of the lenses eliminated maintenance efforts, leading to budget and maintenance resources optimization. Accuracy and repeatability of car position measurement increased operations performance and safety, allowing for optimized overall process timing, synchronization and safety.
