Bhillai Steel drive for increased profit

The Bhillai Steel Plant has Launched a drive to increase profits to Rs.2.5 crore per day. The Rail Mill has registered a record performance by finishing 1990 tonnes of rails and dispatching 2100 tonnes recently. It has crossed the 1700 tonnes a day target. The cumulative production of UTS-90 rails for the Indian Railway during April 2000 - February 2001 was the best ever performance of Bhillai Steel. Its power plant number one has consistently produced over 38 mw against its installed capacity of 36 mw. SMS II, which supplies steel to the upgraded rail mill and plate mill, achieved a production landmark of 100 million tonnes of crude steel on February 7. A production of 507 rail bloom heats through degassing achieved was the highest for any February so far.
