Undeterred by pasffeilures, new US President Barack Obama remains committed to weaning the country from its dependence on foreign oil. While the financial meltdown, economic crisis and oil price crash has rendered energy reform less urgent for some politicians in Washington, Obama is not one of them. Indeed, he is banking that massive investments in alternative energy sources, technologies and infrastructure will help simultaneously create millions of American jobs, lift the economy out of recession, address climate change and enhance energy security.
