ON TARGET AT LEAMINGTON SPA THE STRI BOWLS PROGRAMME

STRI has been working with Warwick District Council to provide agronomy advice using innovative technology allowing a more informative, objective and accurate way of assessing the performance and condition of bowling greens. Victoria Park in Royal Leamington Spa is host to Bowls England Womens National Championships and is a previous venue for World Championship Bowls. In addition, other national and international matches are staged at the five greens bowls complex. The aim of the new technology is to provide an accurate measure of the performance and condition of bowling surfaces as well as to pinpoint the areas where focus and attention of the maintenance programme is required. These new methods are formally packaged together as The STRI Bowls Programme. Following proven success of the STRI Programme in golf, the bowls programme is a natural extension for utilising knowledge and methods already developed by STRI.
