Winter is a time when many greenkeepers will be turning their attention towards ecological and landscape management through the more offline areas of the golf course.The late autumn and winter period is indeed a time when the greenstaff can relax some of the more routine working practices that otherwise dominate through the main playing season. This allows time for other work such as gorse and tree management, woodland thinning, tree removal, tree planting and, of course, pond restoration work. For many greenkeepers this is providing a new dimension and new opportunities in their working life, giving interest and renewed enthusiasm, greater job satisfaction and muchwider training -something that can be included on their CV.
