摘要

I recently passed a field where the farmer had strung up a row of dead crows. I had thought that this practice had died out in the Dark Ages, but no. There they were, edging the field and the road that goes alongside it.If the farmer was trying to deter the live crows, he failed miserably - there were several individuals pecking away quite happily, just a few feet away. I live in Oxborough, Norfolk, and I expect farmers to kill things to protect their crops. I have lived in the country for most of my life and am not ignorant of their plight, but surely if something does not work, you should simply stop doing it? Especially whenit involves killing another living creature. It's a ridiculous waste of life.'
