Incidence and predictors of left atrial thrombus in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis and sinus rhythm: A transesophageal echocardiographic study

The article by Manjunath et al.1 on the incidence of left atrial (LA) thrombus in mitral stenosis (MS) in sinus rhythm (SR) and predictors of its development was interesting. We had done a similar study2 on the usefulness of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) for identification of LA thrombus in MS with SR. While highlighting certain differences from their study, we would like to emphasize the implications of both studies for third-world countries.
