European shipyard IT co-operation one year on .......

In December 1998/January 1999 MER we reported on a Europe-wide consortium incorporating shipyards, un iversities, a trade association and software houses which had launched Project SYRIOS (Small Shiprepair Yard Integrated Operation Systems). The object of the three yearEuropean Union (EU) research project is to develop an innovative information technology framework to increase co-operation, provide relevant research and development information and bolster the competitiveness of small project/contract-orientated EU shiprepair yards.
