From the initial stages of Welland Primary School's construction, Peterborough City Council was determined the school should achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating. Obtaining this rating, while meeting the requirements of the Council's Children's Department and keeping to the financial constraints allocated by the finance department, it was evident matching this criteria would be too costly to achieve. Aware of the challenges ahead, but with a determination to achieve the coveted rating and remain on budget, contractor Kier Eastern turned to architects, Woods Hardwick.
