PESA is striving to sustain the industry's executive-level leadership with a new program to attract and develop rising talent. The human resources situation within the oil and gas industry has reached a critical level. Senior-level executives are nearing retirement, yet there are not enough young industry members to take over the management reins - a result of economic swings beginning in the 1980s that caused workforce numbers to dwindle. The extent of this well-documented dilemma and its potential effect on the future health of the energy industry was addressed by speakers at the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association's (PESA) annual meeting, and they outlined a few of the ways member companies are meeting the challenge.
