The new Chairman of the Fire Industry Association (FIA) has committed the organisation to further improving the professionalism and quality of fire protection in a bid to drive down the estimated 7 billion pounds a year that fire costs the UK economy. Martin Harvey was appointed Chairman of what is recognised as the UK's leading fire protection trade association. In succeeding Dr Peter Moore, who held the position of Chairman for three years (two as BFPSA Chair), Mr Harvey spoke of'... raising levels of competence which must be good for the safety of the country's people and its businesses.' He highlighted the important role that the FIA must continue to play in making business aware of its responsibilities under the new Fire Safety Order.
