Maritime opportunities in Russia

Changes are taking place for the better in Russia. A new combined shipyard is proposed to be built in Severnaya and the Russian government appears to be backing projects which will boost the country's maritime industry. In November 1998 the Russian State Duma/Parliament organised a special session devoted to the develop ment of Russian shipbuilding. It recognised that shipbuilding was the largest machinery industrial sector with direct influence on metal production, instrument and equipment production, and electronics and informatics sectors. The industry also supported many advanced scientific and technical resources.
