Every golf greenkeeper's aim should be to produce greens with a firm, true surface that will provide the golfer with a quality surface on which to play. Traditionally golf greens in the UK are sown with a mixture of red fescue and browntop bentgrass.In more recent times, the use of 100% creeping bentgrass swards has also become fashionable for a number of courses. However, these creeping bentgrasses require greater inputs in terms of fertiliser requirements and management practices. There is now a move towards a greater use of red fescues on golf greens coupled with lower inputs.
