Each year we wait with baited breath to see which problem tops the list. Will it be fairy rings or Microdochium patch? They have led the way for the past few years. Microdochium patch (formally called fusarium patch) has knocked fairy rings off the top spot again during the past year. Pretty unsurprising when you think back on the weather we had last year. It started very warm for April - tee-shirt warm at Easter! Everyone began thinking about wetting agents - which were the best to use in your situation and do you apply blanket sprays or spot treat? We were expecting a long hot summer. In response to this situation, the R&A commissioned a review into wetting agents to determine which products claimed activity against various parameters, such as managing fairy rings or stripping the organic coating from the soil particles. This review has been completed and will be available early in 2008 for anyone who would like some help in choosing products.
