California Passes Renewable Bill

The California senate on Tuesday approved a bill that would require renewable power to account for 33% of electricity delivered by the state's utilities by 2020. Now the bill goes to the state assembly, the senate counterpart in the two-tier legislature. The senate passed the bill 21-16. Some 28 US states including California have existing "renewable portfolio standards" that set various targets for green power deliveries. There is no national standard.
