Omani end-users are going to have to get used to paying more for their natural gas, a top government official says. As its oil production declines, Oman is putting more emphasis on natural gas, but - like most of its Mideast Gulf neighbors - is struggling to meet rising demand for LNG and industrial facilities. But whether demand is met from imports or from domestic production, Zaid Khamis al-Siyabi, director-general of oil and gas exploration and production at the oil ministry, tells International Oil Daily that Omani consumers will need to accept higher prices. "The cheap gas era is over because we're producing really expensive gas and we are searching for expensive gas."
