Saudis Order GE Turbines

Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has signed an almost $1 billion contract with GE, under which the US firm will supply 30 gas turbines totaling 2,000 MW for SEC's Riyadh Power Plant 10 project, which aims to address energy shortages during summer months.SEC currently has total power output of 10,000 MW in the Riyadh area. Once installed during 2010 and 2011, this latest order will increase that capacity by 20%.
