Snohvit Restart Delayed Again

The restart of the Snohvit LNG plant near Hammerfest in northern Norway will be delayed for another 14 days at least by technical problems, operator Statoil said Monday. Snohvit, Europe's only LNG production facility, was shut down for a major repair to fix heat exchangers in mid-August. It briefly restarted earlier this month before shutting down again due to start-up troubles (IOD Nov.10,p7). After the turnaround, a fault was found in one of the plant's utility systems, which has now been repaired.
