Indonesia OKs Santos Wortel

Australia's Santos has received Indone- sian government approval to move ahead with development of its Wortel gas pro- ject off Madura in East Java. The firm said Friday it has reached a final investment decision on the US$100 million project, which will be tied back to the Oyong oil and gas field, which has been producing since 2007. The Wortel development in- cludes two gas wells, a minimum facility wellhead platform and a 10 km gas pipeline to the Oyong wellhead platform. First gas is expected by the end of next year and will peak at 30 MMcf/d. Oyong now produces about 60 MMcf/d of gas and 3,500 b/d of oil.
