Synthesis, characterization and crystal structure of zinc dimolybdate pentahydrate ZnMo2O7 center dot 5H(2)O

The method of synthesis of zinc dimolybdate pentahydrate ZnMo2O7 center dot 5H(2)O has been elaborated. The crystal structure has been solved by X-ray powder diffraction methods. The space group of ZnMo2O7 center dot 5H(2)O is P2(1)/c (14), with lattice parameters: 6.0021(9), 18.886(3), 8.725(f) angstrom, beta = 93.85(1)degrees, V = 986.8(2) angstrom(3). The decomposition of ZnMo2O7 center dot 5H(2)O in air and nitrogen was studied in situ by X-ray diffraction. Results of crystal structure determination and refinement by the Rietveld method, as well as results of IR and TGA, DTA studies performed for ZnMo2O7 center dot 5H(2)O, are presented.
