摘要

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase is an ubiquitous enzyme which by determining the NADPH level has a crucial role in fatty acid biosynthesis and detoxification of organic peroxides. It also indirectly governs the de novo synthesis of nucleotides by influencing the production of ribose-5-phosphate through the hexose monophosphate pathway. The mammalian enzyme is a homodimer or a homotetramer with a subunit molecular weight of -56000 Daltons. In this study a 683 bp fragment of buffalo G6PD gene was amplified and sequenced for the first time.
