Petrobras owners can have auditor value oil

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s state-led Petrobras agreed November 19 to set up a committee of non-government shareholders to monitor a planned swap of 5 billion barrels of oil equivalent of future government oil reserves for Petrobras shares. The committee will have the power to hire an auditor to review how the government, Brazil’s petroleum regulator the ANP, Petro-bras’ executives and the consultants they hire set a value for the oil, believed to exist in unleased federal-government-owned areas in Brazil’s offshore subsalt region.
