I would like to comment on the recent report "Doses to patients from radiographic and fluoroscopic X-ray imaging procedures in the UK - 2005 review" [1]. Results presented in all of the UK dose survey reports are comprehensive and a unique historical source of information concerning radiological practices in the UK over the past 20 years. However, they raise a number of interesting questions, the answers to which might provide an insight into how we might gain more benefit from such surveys, as well as enhance the role of patient dose assessments in diagnostic radiology.
