Emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus carrying Panton-Valentine leukocidin gene in Shanghai, China.

摘要

This is the first reported case of an infection caused by MRSA carrying the Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) gene in Shanghai, China. The emergence of such strains in Shanghai, a densely populated city with a high incidence of MRSA, indicates the necessity of epidemiological surveillance of these clinically important strains.
