Photoinduced absorption of conjugated polymer/C60solutions: Evidence of triplethyphen;state photoexcitations and triplethyphen;energy transfer in poly(3hyphen;alkylthiophene)

We present spectral evidence of the efficient photogeneration of triplethyphen;state excitations in poly(3hyphen;alkylthiophene), P3AT, solutions. The steadyhyphen;state photoinduced absorption spectra display a PIA band centered at 1.50 eV which is attributed to a dipolehyphen;allowed tripletndash;triplet transition. Photoexcitation of P3AT solutions containing C60, results in an efficient energy transfer reaction and provides an estimate for the P3AT triplethyphen;state energy of 1.57ndash;1.72 eV.
