摘要

Laserhyphen;induced fluorescence excitation spectra of freehyphen;jet expansions of He and Cl2have been recorded. Spectroscopic features observed sim;3.5 cmminus;1to the blue of the free35Cl2vibronic origins of the 7ndash;0 through the 12ndash;0 bands of theBthinsp;3Pgr;0+undash;Xthinsp;1Sgr;+gsystem were attributed to the He35Cl2molecule. The observed spectra were well simulated by a Thyphen;shaped, rigid, asymmetric top model. The spectra were observed to display homogeneous broadening dependent on the vibrational band excited. Predissociation lifetimes were calculated and structural parameters determined by fitting the observed contours. The distance from the He atom to the Cl2center of mass is 3.8plusmn;0.4 and 3.9plusmn;0.4 Aring; for the ground and excited states, respectively.
