The microwave spectrum of 2,2hyphen;difluorohyphen;1hyphen;methylcyclopropane was observed in the range 8hyphen;38 gHz. The ground and first excited methyl torsional states were assigned, and a barrier of 2260thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;150 cal/mole was obtained from the splittings in the first excited torsional state. The dipole moment was measured and found to bemgr;Athinsp;equals;thinsp;2.03thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.03 D,mgr;Bthinsp;equals;thinsp;1.19thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.04 D,mgr;Cthinsp;equals;thinsp;0.31thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.07 D, andmgr;totalthinsp;equals;thinsp;2.37thinsp;plusmn;thinsp;0.05 D. The barrier to internal rotation in this molecule is compared to barriers in similar molecules.
