The intermolecular arrangement in the plastic crystal (phase Ia) of carbon tetrachloride studied by xhyphen;ray diffraction

The xhyphen;ray diffraction pattern of the CCl4plastic crystal (fcc), consisting of halos and a few sharp peaks, was observed by using an energyhyphen;dispersive method at minus;30thinsp;deg;C and the halo pattern was analyzed. The observed intensity was explained by the rsquo;rsquo;headndash;tail headndash;tail model.rsquo;rsquo; This arrangement is consistent with the local structure of the bcc cluster model presented by us for liquid CCl4.
