TheVhyphen;Venergy transfer rates from DF (vequals;1) to HCl, HBr, DBr, D2, N2, O2, CO, and NO have been measured at temperatures from 295 to sim; 800deg;K. The measurements were made behind reflected shock waves with the laserhyphen;induced fluorescence technique. The rates forVhyphen;Vtransfer to the infraredhyphen;active molecules show an inverse temperature dependence near room temperature, characteristic of collisions dominated by attractive potentials. The rates forVhyphen;Vtransfer to the homonuclear diatomics have positive temperature dependences, typical of shorthyphen;range repulsive potential interactions. Several rates ofVhyphen;R, Tdeactivation by DF were also obtained. The available data for the hydrogen halides show thatPHYhyphen;HXPHXhyphen;HYwhenPHXhyphen;HXPHYhyphen;HY. HF and DF are equally efficient in deactivating HCl (vequals;1) and HBr (vequals;1).
