Crossed ion neutral beam techniques have been employed to investigate the reactions C++CO2rarr;CO++CO, O++CO2rarr;O+CO+2, and O++CO2rarr; O+2+CO. Cross sections for the first reaction have been obtained in the ion energy range from 0.5ndash;25 eV, while for the second process the range of measurement was 0.5ndash;500 eV. Signals attributed to the third reaction could only be detected at ion energies less than 0.5 eV. Both ionndash;molecule reactions exhibit an energy dependence which falls off with increasing interaction energy faster than the 1/vdependence often found for such processes. The charge transfer process, which is endothermic by approximately 0.15 eV, is observed to have a finite cross section at the lowest ion energy employed.
