The problem of the polarization dependence of molecular fluorescence excited by simultaneous absorption of two different photons is solved exactly for the case of randomly oriented molecules which do not rotate between the absorption and emission acts. It is found thatsevenmolecular parameters are available from such a study, including the relative values of the critical parameters dgr;F, dgr;G, and dgr;Hwhich characterize the symmetry of the twohyphen;photon excited state. The results are compared with another author's study of this problem, which concluded that onlyfiveparameters were measureable.
