Conformation and Reaction of Stereoisomeric Radicals Trapped in Irradiatedcishyphen; andtranshyphen;Cyclohexaneminus;1,2hyphen;diol

ESR measurements were carried out on the samples of electronhyphen;irradiated cyclohexanediols. In the case of 1,2hyphen;diols, the results are consistent with an interpretation of trapping of two conformationally isomeric radicals,cishyphen; andtranshyphen;cyclohexaneminus;1,2hyphen;diolminus;1, at minus;196deg;C and their intramolecular conversion to cyclohexanoneminus;2 or 2hyphen;hydroxycyclohexanoneminus;6 radicals upon warming to room temperature.
